The Hohlaubgrat, or East Ridge, is one of the most enjoyable ascents in the Saas-Fee region. It is popular, scenically impressive and not overly demanding for experienced crampon users.
The tour starts at the Hohlaub / Metro-Window at 3200 m. As soon as you leave the tunnel, you step into a completely different world, far away from skiers and tourists.

Good average fitness is required for the 800 m ascent, the high altitude and the descent via the normal Allalinhorn route.
Technique
Medium difficult glacier and rock tour.
Crampon experience is required.
The route follows a snow ridge and includes a short but exciting rock step with easy scrambling before the summit.

From the Hohlaub / Metro-Window at 3200 m, the route quickly leaves the ski area behind and enters a quiet high alpine setting.
The ascent follows the impressive Hohlaubgrat snow ridge with outstanding views and the full character of a real alpine ascent.
Before reaching the summit, a short rock step adds an exciting section of easy scrambling. The descent follows the normal route.

Tour is only possible with crampon experience.
