Ski Tour
After approximately three hours of climbing, reach the Adlerpass and enjoy the first sweeping views across the Western Alps. The final ascent crosses a broad ice field before following the long summit ridge.
From February to March, the Strahlhorn can be climbed as a day tour from the Metro Alpin middle station. From April onwards, an overnight stay is required until the Britannia Hut closes.

Endurance & altitude
Long ascent
Climb approximately 1300 m in five hours, passing the Adlerpass before crossing the upper glacier towards the summit.
Western Alps
From the Adlerpass onwards, expansive views open across the Western Alps and accompany you along the broad ice field and summit ridge.
2420 m descent
Enjoy a very long ski descent back to Saas-Fee. Alternative descents towards Mattmark or Zermatt may be possible on request.
Levels
Fitness
Very good fitness is required for the 1300 m ascent, which takes approximately five hours, followed by a 2420 m descent to Saas-Fee.
Technik
Previous touring experience and good off-piste skiing or snowboarding skills are recommended. You must be comfortable travelling in glaciated high-alpine terrain.
All our ski tours are open to splitboarders. However, a higher technical level is required on a splitboard because transitions, traverses and flat sections are generally more demanding than on touring skis.

Route
Strahlhorn 4190 m
The route climbs through glaciated terrain to the Adlerpass, continues across a broad ice field, and follows the long summit ridge to the Strahlhorn before descending to Saas-Fee.
Depending on the season, the tour starts from the Metro Alpin middle station or includes an overnight stay at the Britannia Hut. Snow, glacier and avalanche conditions determine the exact itinerary.

An optional descent to Zermatt is possible; the price is available on request.
Hut fees, the mountain guide’s overnight stay in the hut (CHF 45.–), and the gondola to Felskinn are nicht im Preis inbegriffen.
Transport from Saas-Almagell or Zermatt is nicht im Preis inbegriffen when choosing an alternative descent towards Mattmark or Zermatt.
After the official season, there is one daily ascent to Felskinn at 16:15 and one descent to Saas-Fee at 16:30.
Equipment
Touring skis or a splitboard, skins, ski crampons, boot crampons, an ice axe, a climbing harness, and an avalanche rescue kit are required. Technical equipment can be rented from Saas-Fee Guides, subject to availability.
